MBABANE – Eswatini and Lesotho are seeking to revive education cooperation and expand trade as the two neighbouring kingdoms move to strengthen bilateral relations.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Senator Pholile Shakantu held talks with Lesotho’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Limpho Justice Tau, during a courtesy call. The ministers discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, which share longstanding historical ties.
Education was identified as an area for renewed cooperation, with the two sides discussing the revival of education programmes between Eswatini and Lesotho. They also discussed opportunities to increase trade and strengthen cooperation in agriculture.
The ministers are expected to join their agriculture counterparts at the inaugural Africa Seed Summit, where issues affecting the agricultural sector will be discussed. The meeting reaffirmed the two countries’ interest in expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.
