MBABANE – Kusekhaya Cycling Club principal Mduduzi Kaudi has explained the reason for the postponement of their annual race, initially slated for October 25, 2025.
The event will now take place on November 22, 2025.
The decision to shift the date was prompted by a significant clash with one of the sport’s biggest global events, the Ride Joburg. The South African race itself had already moved its original date to October 26 to avoid coinciding with the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Johannesburg. With many local cyclists typically competing in Ride Joburg, Kusekhaya was left with no alternative but to reschedule.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to reschedule our race to ensure maximum participation for our athletes and maintain the event’s regional appeal,” Kaudi stated in a press release. He confirmed that the venue and all other logistics will remain unchanged.
Kaudi believes this adjustment offers a silver lining. “The Eswatini Cycling Association (ECA) has approved the new date, positioning the Kusekhaya Lowveld Invitational as the season’s final race. This will not only heighten excitement, but also give competitive cyclists a thrilling opportunity to close the season on a high note,” he added.
This isn’t the first local race to face a postponement due to clashing events. The 4EVA Cycling Club’s 2Fast 2Furious event was also moved to August 16, 2025, having originally clashed with the KwaMagogo No.43 Legacy Run race scheduled for August 9.
