MBABANE – The Bornman family quartet has been crowned champions of the Nkonyeni VW Scramble golf tournament, held recently at the picturesque Nkonyeni Golf Estate.

The formidable team of Andre, Annatjie, Tiaan and Zanri Bornman showcased exceptional teamwork to clinch the top spot with an impressive 52 points. The tournament, generously sponsored by MT Cooling, Mix Solution and Swazi Roof Masters, saw fierce competition among the participants.

Hot on the Bornmans’ heels, securing a strong second place with 55 points, were Corne v. Rensburg, Ulrich Schoeman, Fanie Schoeman and Reinu Schoeman. Rounding out the top three, with 58 points, were Mike Flinn, Royden Fisher, Jacobus Pienaar and Kerry Bassett.

The ‘Most Golf’ honour went to Christo Pretorius, Ben McCarthy and Duné McCarthy, who carded 69 points. The day also featured some exceptional individual moments in the novelties section. Estelle Mattheus displayed pinpoint precision to claim ‘Closest to the Pin on hole number two, while Gerhard Prinsloo demonstrated his accuracy on hole number 18.

Kerry Bassett also got in on the action with a close shot on hole number 20. The long drives were particularly impressive.

Annatjie Bornman unleashed a powerful shot to win the longest drive ladies on hole number 22 and Gerhard Prinsloo showcased his strength with the longest drive men on hole number five.

As the day drew to a close, excitement mounted for the attendance draw. The number 26 was called and Reinu Schoeman walked away with a cool E750 prize.
