MBABANE –Blow!

A leaked list of players summoned to the national team, Sihlangu camp, has revealed that six key Royal Leopard stars will be unavailable for the upcoming 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, dealing a significant blow to the club’s tournament aspirations.

The leaked roster includes six players from the police side, namely defenders Simanga Masangane, Mzwandile Mabelesa and Gift Gamedze, goalkeeper Mlamuli Makhanya, defensive midfielder Ayanda Kunene and attacking midfielder Junior Magagula.

This player withdrawal is a common occurrence, as national team commitments routinely take precedence. Sihlangu are scheduled to participate in International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup Qualifiers, facing Cameroon on September 4 and Libya on September 8. Consequently, these fixtures clash directly with the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, which is set to run from August 30 to September 7.

The call-ups will also have a substantial impact on other teams. League champions Nsingizini Hotspurs will be without five of their own players: defender Nkosingiphile Shongwe, goalkeeper Khanyakezwe Shabalala, midfielders Kwakhe Thwala, Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini and attacking midfielder Thubelihle Mavuso.
