MBABANE – Eswatini’s swimming sensation Hayley Hoy says she is ready to make a splash at the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships next month.

The championships will be held in the country from September 3-7, 2025. The Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) has already named 37 athletes to represent the nation in the 14-nation regional event.

Hoy, a promising pool star and the reigning Eswatini Junior Sportswoman of the Year, expressed her readiness for the challenge. She was speaking during a 2026 Commonwealth Games activation at Lobamba.

“Definitely, I’m ready. It’s on home soil and I’m excited because it’s the first big competition I will have done on home soil,” she said.

She added that as hosts, there is a lot of pressure on the local athletes, but they will have to show up to win more medals, as the country has a history of harvesting them from the Zone IV Championships.

“The training is progressing well, yet it is intense and I believe we can definitely do well,” Hoy said.

The Swimming Championships will be held at Enjabulweni School in Moneni, while the Open Water Challenge is set for Luphohlo Dam at Siphocosini outside Mbabane.
