MBABANE – Amandla Omnotho has been unveiled as the investor set to establish a footwear factory at Sigwe, in the Shiselweni Region – a project is expected to create around 120 jobs for emaSwati once fully operational.
The announcement was made yesterday morning by Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo during a press briefing at his ministry’s offices. The minister highlighted that the initiative is in line with His Majesty King Mswati III’s call for factories to be established in rural areas to create employment opportunities.
Khumalo emphasised that his ministry is committed to translating theKing’s vision into action by ensuring that all emaSwati have access to sustainable jobs. He further confirmed that the construction of the factory is set to commence soon. “It is the agenda of this ministry to create jobs for emaSwati, as this is a call made by His Majesty,” Khumalo said.
Sigwe Member of Parliament (MP) David Ngcamphalala welcomed the project, applauding the minister for his continued efforts in facilitating investments, supporting business expansions and opening new enterprises across the country.
Ngcamphalala noted that such interventions have already created thousands of jobs and improved lives for many families. He confirmed that the project would still be presented to the traditional leadership of the area, under Chief GasawaNgwane, who has already blessed the site identified for the factory.
