MAFUTSENI – Eswatini’s Young Buffaloes Ladies’ CAF dream has been shattered.

They were representing the country in the HollywoodBets Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League/Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Qualifiers.

Buffaloes sealed a dramatic 3-1 victory against Lesotho’s Kick4Life on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the AW Muller Stadium at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

Notably, they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Gaborone United last Saturday. It never rained but poured for Buffaloes, as they watched United hammer Kick4Life, defeating them with a score of 10-1 yesterday. This placed the Eswatini side in second position of the Group B standings, with a goal difference of one after two matches played.

They could have secured a place in the semi-finals as best runners-up, but ZESCO Ndola Girls dashed their hopes. The Zambia-based outfit amassed three points in Group A standings. Regardless, their superior goal difference of two secured them a place in the next stage as the best runners-up team.

As per Article 5(I) of the tournament rules, the best-second placed team was determined from the runners-up in each group based on the highest number of points earned in the group matches. This was followed by superior goal difference, highest number of goals scored in those matches and then fair play. The group stage ended yesterday, with the competition set to wrap up on August 31. Reports indicate that the Eswatini delegation left Johannesburg yesterday for their return home.

Buffaloes tournament finishes:

  • 2025 – Group Stage
  • 2024 – Semi-finals
  • 2023 – Group Stage
  • 2022 – Group Stage
  • 2021 – Did not qualify
