MBABANE – The minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs stated that the fumes emitting from the Mbabane Government Hospital are the ones that pollute the air in Mbabane City.

She stated this during an interview, whereby she explained that when one passes by the hospital, the smoke from the waste material that the hospital burn is visible and it contributes to the unclean air that the residents of Mbabane breathe in.

However, Simelane explained that the Ministry of Tourism is working alongside the environmental department within the Ministry of Health and with the Matsapha Town Council to develop a smart incinerator that is eco-friendly and will be installed in the Mbabane Government Hospital.

She assured that this project being currently operated in Matsapha with the help of the Eswatini Environment Authority, will ensure that the waste material like the one being burnt in hospitals, will be incinerated in a way that will not affect the environment.

Meanwhile, Simelane reported that the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs bought a system that will measure the cleanliness of the air that the people breathe in and the one that breezes through us.
