MBABANE – With roughly two months to go, the country’s mother-of-all marathons dubbed Imbube Marathon, has been sold out.

As per the norm, the iconic Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba will host this prestigious event on October 18, 2025. Reports indicate that there is an estimated 5 500 entries for the legendary race, which is also a Comrades Marathon qualifier. According to its organisers, the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF), there are no more places in the 42km, 21km and  10km, with all slots being sold out, forcing them to close registration for this event earlier than the projected date of October 3.

Back on July 31, the full marathon had 300 slots remaining, while the 21km and 10km races had 219 and 140 slots left, respectively.

Athletes will once again win prestigious prizes in the Imbube marathon. The 42km winner will take home E35 000 first prize money in the internationally-recognised local race.

The best liSwati will receive E35 000 as well. Minister for Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi, affirmed the latest developments during the launch of the seventh edition, which was held on April 11, 2025 at Happy Valley Hotel.
