MBABANE – Stand-up comedians Gogo, S’lwane, Slim Bee and Hembe have sparked a countrywide reaction with their ‘lugodvo kimi’ content.

What started as a comedy video has now sparked debate among millennials and social issues are now being addressed by the youth using this content.

Social media has been set abuzz by the talent of the local comedians and during an interview with them, they shared that the content is a demonstration of the influence they have in nation-building.

“Critically, this concept is us leveraging what little influence we have towards nation-building for Eswatini, where we can all get along nicely.

“It demonises and bashes no one, but provides some key points of reflection for every one of us, particularly considering how we have tragically grown to co-exist as people.

“The success of this concept goes down to a team that is fully cognisant of the socio-economic evolutions and nuances around our daily lives as emaSwati trying to co-exist, set-up families and all.

“It is our lived experiences as young men and women at homes, urban areas, as we do our best to co-exist beautifully. Ultimately, the concept seeks to get us collectively reflecting on what has changed, for the good and the bad, learn from it and be better, not bitter while we laugh, importantly,” they said.

The content is now inspiring countrywide engagement, especially by tackling issues rising between men and women. When asked how this has inspired the content creators and how helpful they think the engagement will benefit them, they shared that this is how they wanted it to land.
