MONENI – Golden moment!

Eswatini swimming sensation Chadd Ning has become the first swimmer to win a medal for the country at the ongoing Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming and Open Water Championships.

The championships are hosted by Eswatini and were officially opened by the Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, yesterday afternoon at their main arena, Enjabulweni Independent School. There are 12 countries that have joined the kingdom for this five-day event, which will culminate into the Open Water Championship to be held at Luphohlo Dam, Siphocosini, outside Mbabane on Sunday.

On the first day, Ning dazzled the pool with his skill in the 50 metres breaststroke and swam to a gold medal. In a tightly-contested heat that also featured Damien de Sousa, who came in fifth, the 2024 Olympic Games participant  came first, defeating six other competitors.
