Mandisa Mamba is a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur whose origins are rooted in Eswatini. Born and raised in the kingdom, her family background includes roots from Durban in South Africa and Nhlangano in Eswatini, Mandisa Mamba’s mother is from Durban and her father is from Nhlangano . Her upbringing was shaped by strong family values and faith, which have remained central to her identity as both a woman and an artist. Mandisa’s passion for creation spans music, storytelling and business, driven by a desire for fulfilment through hard work and the realisation of her goals.
Her journey in music commenced in 2017, marking approximately eight years of active involvement in the industry. Despite taking a two-year hiatus to focus on personal growth, Mandisa has established herself as a prominent figure within the local and regional music scene.
She has performed at notable events such as the MTN Bushfire Festival and has received awards recognising her talent, including Best R&B Artist, Best Collaboration and Song of the Year. Her single ‘Fault in the Stars’ achieved significant success, remaining 11 consecutive weeks at number one on national radio charts. Her recent release ‘Echo’ continues to resonate with audiences across Africa, with its visualiser surpassing 22 000 views on YouTube, Echo is a love song – a story about a love so deep and genuine that it reverberates endlessly, just like an echo. It speaks to that kind of connection that lingers long after the moment has passed – where love feels timeless, powerful and ever-present , the music video was shot in Mbabane, Total Gardens. Her recognition includes a nomination for Best Female Artist in Southern Africa at the AFRIMA Awards, highlighting her growing influence. In addition to her musical pursuits, Mandisa has also made a mark as an actress. She played the role of Queen Choshile in the film Baka Ngwane, a film that celebrates the vibrant culture rich heritage and the remarkable birth of the Kingdom of Eswatini , stemming from the Bantu-speaking Nguni people, a character she describes as strong and complex.
This role opened many doors for her and reignited her passion for acting. She regards her portrayal of Queen Choshile as a major milestone that allowed her to explore emotional depths and showcase her versatility. The trust placed in her by the producers was crucial, empowering her to embody the character’s strength, vulnerability and leadership. Her experience in the film industry has deepened her appreciation for storytelling as a means of cultural expression and representation, “ I’m incredibly grateful to the producers for trusting me with the role , their belief in my ability gave me the confidence to fully embody Queen Choshile’s strength , vulnerability and leadership,” she said.
