PIGG’S PEAK – Reigning MTN Premier League champions Nsingizini Hotspurs returned to winning ways in style yesterday afternoon.
‘Insingizi Yezulu’ dispatched Malanti Chiefs 3-0 at home in a rescheduled week-six fixture.
The visitors, still smarting from a surprise 2-0 defeat to Tabankulu Celtics in their previous outing, wasted no time stamping their authority on the contest, ending Malanti Chiefs’ unbeaten run.
Nsingizini dominated the opening exchanges, pinning the hosts back and creating a string of half-chances inside the first 10 minutes.
The breakthrough arrived just after the half-hour mark.
Mncedisi Mkhonta, handed his first start of the 2024/25 campaign, whipped in a delicious cross from the right flank and Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini met it with precision to steer the ball home in a narrow angle and give the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup joint-champions a deserved lead.
Three minutes later the advantage was doubled. Putting in a man-of-the-match performance, Dlamini turned provider, threading a perfectly-weighted pass into the path of Joel Madondo, who made no mistake from mere centimetres from the D-line, after earlier spurning a glorious headed opportunity from Sizwe ‘Yeki’ Khumalo’s pass.
Nsingizini took their 2-0 cushion into the interval and showed no signs of easing off after the restart.
They continued to exploit the wide areas with menace and in the 53rd minute, ‘Tiger’ claimed the goal his performance merited.
