MATSAPHA, ESWATINI – The Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) Eswatini Chapter, in collaboration with a growing network of multipurpose cooperatives, is proud to announce the inaugural Christmas Fair, a landmark event made possible through the gracious hosting and partnership of OK Foods Eswatini.

This first edition of the Christmas Fair marks a historic collaboration between OWIT Eswatini and cooperatives operating within closed and inclusive value chains, where members have moved beyond production into processing, packaging, branding, and value addition. Most participating cooperatives have developed market-ready products specifically for this showcase, demonstrating the power of collective enterprise, local industrialisation, and grassroots innovation.

The Fair represents a critical stepping stone for emerging producers—a lifeline that has been generously extended by OK Foods through the provision of a commercial platform that bridges small-scale producers with formal retail and consumer markets. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to inclusive economic growth, local sourcing, and sustainable community development.

 A Groundbreaking Retail Partnership

Selected products from participating cooperatives and OWIT members will be showcased, with a view to future shelf placement, subject to quality and compliance requirements.

All showcased products will undergo testing and assessment for alignment with national and applicable international standards, reinforcing a culture of quality, safety, and competitiveness within Eswatini’s cooperative sector.

What to Expect

  • Locally produced food products, agro-processed goods, crafts, textiles, and artisanal innovations
  • Products developed through cooperative-led closed value chains
  • Engagement with women – youth-, and disability-inclusive enterprises
  • Product showcases and special in-store promotions hosted by OK Foods
  • A celebration of resilience, collaboration, and community-driven enterprise

This Christmas Fair aligns with Eswatini’s national development priorities, including import substitution, value addition, women and youth economic empowerment, and the strengthening of local supply chains. It is a practical demonstration of how partnerships between civil society, cooperatives, and the private sector can unlock sustainable livelihoods.

OWIT Eswatini extends its sincere appreciation to OK Foods Eswatini for providing this critical platform and believes this inaugural Fair will pave the way for future editions and long-term market integration for local producers.
