MBABANE – Both capital city giants have been dealt major blows ahead of Sunday’s Mbabane derby.
Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows will each be missing a key figure when they clash at the Mavuso Sports Centre.
The biggest fixture in the land serves as the headliner for week 14 of the MTN Premier League, which officially kicks off the New Year’s footballing calendar.
As the cross-town rivals intensify their preparations, it has been confirmed that two influential players will definitely play no part in the match-day squads.
While one is sidelined by an injury, the other faces a double setback of suspension and bereavement.
The ‘Black Bull’ will be without the services of their reliable centre-back Vusimuzi ‘Ramos’ Vilakati. Boasting nearly a decade of experience at the black and gold, Vilakati will be forced to watch the derby from the stands, the same vantage point from which he observed yesterday’s training session. He continues to nurse a right knee injury that also ruled him out of the previous encounter against rookies Tabankulu Celtics.
Highlanders’ Head Coach, Ernest Mavuso, also revealed during yesterday’s pre-match briefing that Mxolisi Hlongwane and Bongimusa Fakudze are currently undergoing treatment. Mavuso remained hopeful that atleast two of his injured stars will be certified fit by Sunday.
