MBABANE – The relentless rainfall sweeping across the country has forced the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to tear up its weekend schedule, submerging several crackerjack clashes in a nationwide washout.
The primary casualties of the downpour were the high-profile double-header originally slated for tomorrow at the Mavuso Sports Centre. Fans were set to witness a titanic battle between capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders and Green Mamba, followed by Moneni Pirates hosting Royal Leopard. The postponement has not only forced a change of dates, but also a shift in kick-off times. These fixtures have now been rescheduled for next Wednesday, with the Highlanders’ match kicking off at 5:30pm.
Elsewhere, the clash between Young Buffaloes and Manzini Wanderers, originally set for Mayaluka Stadium, has been moved to Mkhuzweni Technical Centre and will now take place next Tuesday.
Despite the widespread disruption, the coronation of Nsingizini Hotspurs is set to proceed today at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium.
The league leaders are scheduled to host Mbabane Swallows at 3pm.
This fixture will coincide with the presentation of their E120 000 first-round ‘carrot’ incentive, a reward for finishing the first half of the season at the summit of the elite league.
