MBABANE – International DJ Uncle Waffles and Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat met backstage during the South African leg of Global Citizen’s Move Afrika 2026 tour.

The encounter took place on Friday March 20, 2026, at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, where Doja Cat served as the event’s primary headliner.

The Pretoria concert marked the conclusion of the 2026 Move Afrika circuit, which also included a performance in Kigali, Rwanda earlier in the week.

Organised by Global Citizen in partnership with creative agency pgLang, the initiative is designed to establish a sustainable international touring circuit across the African continent.

The evening’s line-up featured The Joy and Moonchild Sanelly prior to Doja Cat’s headline set. Her performance included chart-topping singles such as ‘Paint the Town Red’, ‘Woman’ and ‘Streets’. The event reached its maximum capacity at the SunBet Arena, drawing thousands of attendees to the Menlyn Maine.

Uncle Waffles, a prominent figure in the global Amapiano scene, was present at the venue during the festivities. Footage and images circulated by event attendees and media outlets captured the interaction between the two artists in the backstage area.

This meeting occurred during Doja Cat’s debut performance series in South Africa.

Born Lungelihle Zwane, Uncle Waffles has emerged as one of the most influential figures in the global Amapiano movement. Known for her energetic performances and strong stage presence, the DJ rose to fame in 2021.

A video of her performing during a live set went viral online, sparking a career that has seen her gain well over three million followers on social media.
