A deep, growling rumble echoes through the streets of Eveni, Mbabane followed by sharp pops and flashes of fire from the exhaust. Heads turn, some step aside, unsure if it is a race car or something else entirely. It is not just noise, it is a sound filled with emotion, history and a story few know.
A silver grey Nissan Sunny B15 engine roars through the streets not just as a car, but as a rolling tribute, a symbol of strength, memory and passion. Owned by Wandile ‘Kwaito’ Tsabedze, this car, fondly nicknamed Mtimandze, carries with it a story far deeper than just rubber and metal. It is a legacy, a dedication to his late mother and a reminder of where love and memory can meet the road.
Wandile’s journey with Mtimandze began a year ago when he purchased the car from an elderly man who has since passed away. Though their time together has only spanned months, the bond is one built on appreciation and deep emotional ties. The name ‘Mtimandze’ was not chosen randomly because to him it means ‘in loving memory’ and serves as a tribute to the mother whose love continues to guide Wandile’s life. Each turn of the ignition, each rev of the engine, is a salute to her memory.
At first glance, the Nissan Sunny B15 might not demand attention but a closer look and more importantly, a listen that tells a different story. This silver grey machine hums with raw power. The engine, a trusted B15, delivers performance that surprises many. “What truly sets Mtimandze apart is its signature sound it is not just the smooth purr of a well maintained engine, but the thunderous growl and thrilling pops that echo through the streets of Mbabane,” explained Wandile. The pipe does not just speak it sings, with fire breathing bursts that demand admiration.
Wandile’s pride in his vehicle is not just about horsepower or exhaust notes. It is the emotion tied to the machine. Mtimandze is a symbol of remembrance, a way of keeping the spirit of his late mother alive in the most personal way. “It is powerful and it makes a statement just like she did,” shared Wandile. Driving through Eveni, Mtimandze does not go unnoticed. The glint of silver under the sun and the deep roar of the engine mark its presence. It is not just a car it is an experience, a moving memorial and a symbol of how cars can become much more than transportation. For Wandile, it is therapy, it is home and it is his connection to the past, riding with him into the future.
As time goes on, Wandile plans to preserve and possibly enhance the Nissan further, ensuring it remains both a high-performing machine and a timeless dedication. While others may see just another car, those who know the story understand the depth behind every gear change and every mile driven. In a world where cars often come and go, Mtimandze stands as a reminder that some rides are meant to last forever not just on the road, but in the heart.
