IN a renewed effort to bolster security and ensure the safety of its Correctional centres, His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) has issued a public invitation to tender for the supply and installation of fencing for multiple facilities across the country. The tender notice, published on behalf of the Eswatini Government Tender Board, calls forsuitably qualified contractors to submit bids in line with strict specifications and timelines. This security-driven project, spanning the 2025/2026 financial year, is set to advance the operational resilience of four Correctional centres in Eswatini, namely the Mbabane (Sidwashini Prison), Matsapha, Big Bend and Pigg’s Peak facilities.

Contractors

Contractors are invited to bid for one or more of the four lots outlined in the tender, with schedules designating separate centres for each lot. The programme prioritises high-quality fencing that meets stringent technical and regulatory standards to secure sensitive government properties. The tender document emphasises comprehensive specifications and eligibility criteria for interested parties. These include valid trading licences, contractor registrations and tax compliance documentation. Bidders are also required to submit proof of financial capacity, alongside certificates of incorporation and other mandatory qualifications. There shall be a compulsory pre-tender briefing held in four centres and two representatives are expected per tendering company. This is to ensure contractors fully understand the requirements.

Tender submission details
The closing date for the submission of bids is September 19, 2025 at 9am, per government policy. Submissions received after the deadline, whether electronically or manually, will not be considered. The announcement notes adherence to Eswatini Government procurement standards, which will be a key determinant in selecting the winning bids. Additionally, the Tender Board reserves the right to award multiple lots to a single contractor or, conversely, divide them among several entities, based on merit, capacity and competitiveness. Potential bidders have been encouraged to make early preparations and to consult the official guidelines for accuracy and compliance.

Promoting infrastructure and security
The tender marks one of HMCS’s most significant steps towards boosting safety measures at critical government institutions. Fencing not only acts as a form of physical security against unauthorised accessibility but also reinforces confidence among stakeholders regarding Eswatini’s Correctional facility standards. Interested parties are urged to procure the detailed tender documents, priced at E300 per lot, available at the Government Revenue offices in Mbabane before the pre-briefing. Only those who participate in briefing sessions will be eligible for consideration. As Eswatini continues to adapt to new governance dynamics, investments in infrastructure remain pivotal. This project aligns with broader national goals of fortifying institutional capacity and protecting sensitive installations. Successful bidders will be recognised as key contributors to the country’s strategic growth in public security
