At university, many students focus solely on their studies. Mlandvo Suku Masuku has chosen a different path, building a business alongside his academic commitments. His venture, Wethusi Investment, specialises in branding and printing T-shirts and other clothing, transforming plain fabrics into personalised statements of style.
Business born from passion
What started as a small favour for friends has grown into a nationwide service. “At first I used to print for my friends because they loved my branded clothes but now I am printing for people across the country. I am really seeing progress and it’s a good one,” says Masuku.
Customers can bring their own clothing or choose from items supplied by the business. They select their preferred size, colour and design, which Masuku ensures are delivered to a high standard.
Vision and mission
Masuku dreams of establishing a dedicated printing shop complete with professional machines and materials.
“I want to be my own boss and employ people to work in my business to reduce unemployment in the country. I also want Wethusi Investment to be a household name,” he explains.
His mission is simple, to provide reliable branding services for individuals and companies, delivering quality products on time for events ranging from birthdays to corporate outings.
Work ethic and leadership
Masuku attributes his success to a combination of discipline, determination and an uncompromising commitment to quality. For him, every order – no matter how small – deserves meticulous attention.
“I work like a slave to live like a king. No matter how small the job is, I make sure it is top notch. I don’t mix business with pleasure and I always meet deadlines,” he says.
This mindset has shaped his reputation for reliability. Clients know they will receive their products on time, crafted with care and delivered as promised.
“I instil positive energy by making sure deadlines are met. If anyone has placed an order, I ensure they receive it at the right time – no excuses. Consistency builds trust and trust builds a brand,” he explains.
Beyond technical skills, Masuku sees leadership as the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and inspire confidence in clients. His approach reflects a belief that great service is as much about attitude as it is about execution.
Advice for aspiring entrepreneurs
Masuku believes success lies in building relationships and managing challenges with patience.
“To work with people you must love people. There will be challenges – a wrong order, a client who cannot pay, but you need to handle it with care and professionalism,” he advises.
Looking ahead
The young entrepreneur recently received a proposal from a popular company to handle their branding needs; a milestone he sees as proof of how far he has come.
My driving factor was to work hard. If it didn’t work, I worked even harder. Giving up was never an option,” says Masuku, who is currently reading A Journey to a Definite Place of Purpose by Bonkhe Shabangu for inspiration.
