Get your groove on fleek: Braais, beats and bliss this African Festive Season

Forget the snow and the saccharine carols, in an African festive season, the vibe is the main event. We’re talking sizzling meat, ice-cold drinks, electric crowds and dancing until the sunrise. Ready to ditch the tinsel and find your true groove? We’ve scouted the hottest spots across the kingdom where the shisanyama is perfect and the drinks are chilled.

Here’s your essential guide to chilling, braaing and cutting shapes this December:

Mdzimba View Shisanyama: The crowd puller

If you want a guaranteed crowd and a packed schedule, make a pit stop here. Mdzimba View knows how to organise a party!

They have a clear festive plan: think Fridays dedicated to live performances by famous spinners and Thursdays reserved for Ladies Night. Plus, with their swanky new sports bar (sponsored by Castle Lite), this place is geared up for energy. It’s always worth a minute or several hour, to pop in.

Lounge 23:28: Home comforts (minus the meat)

For the seasoned gentleman (and those who appreciate a relaxed, homely atmosphere), this is your sanctuary.

While they might skip the shisanyama (no shisanyama here, folks), Lounge 23:28 compensates with a deeply traditional menu; from inhloko, emasondvo to kwangekhatsi.

The atmoshphere is chilled and laid back.

Xchange Lounge: Poolside Posh

Need to cool off before you heat up the dance floor? The XChange Lounge & Shisanyama is your answer. This spot doesn’t just offer good music and great food; it has a swimming pool right in the yard! Go ahead, enjoy that chill-out session, then make a splash; or at least threaten to. With a menu of good food and great company, this is the ideal spot for Gen Z and anyone looking to mix their braai session with a little poolside chic.

Beyond Mbabane – Manzini Corridor

Don’t forget to explore the action outside Mbabane!

Entabeni, Nhlangano: A southern favourite for those heading further afield.

The Sugar Belt: Even the clubs scattered across the sugar belt region make for great, spirited hangout spots if you’re looking for a change of scenery and a buzzing crowd. Although, these are no shisanyama spots, their giant burgers are addictive. Mhlume Country Club is one of the best for GenZ and Mananga is for the seasoned mates.

Whatever your vibe, this festive season promises perfect weather, hot beats and an abundance of great company. Go forth and enjoy!
