The National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard) launched its 2026 Regional Farmer Roadshows with the first engagement held at Motshane RDA last Thursday (March 5, 2026), bringing together horticulture farmers and industry stakeholders from the Hhohho Region.

The annual roadshows form part of NAMBoard’s ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with farmers, share market insights and create a platform for open dialogue on challenges affecting horticulture production and marketing.

Held under the theme ‘From Farm to Fork: Pricing, Quality, Quantity and Consistency,’ the roadshows are designed to help farmers better understand how their production practices link to market requirements. The initiative focuses on encouraging market-oriented production planning, improving quality compliance and ensuring consistent supply of locally produced horticultural commodities.

NAMBoard hosts these roadshows annually to create a direct platform for farmers to raise operational and market-related challenges. Through interactive discussions and feedback sessions, farmers are able to share their experiences and concerns with NAMBoard and other industry stakeholders.

Insights gathered during these engagements will help inform the organisation’s upcoming strategy, ensuring that farmer concerns are addressed and practical solutions are incorporated into future programmes.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of aligning production with market demand, improving understanding of produce pricing mechanisms and reducing post-harvest losses through better handling, storage and logistics practices.

A key highlight of the Motshane engagement was the recognition of the Hhohho Region’s top-performing farmers. Njabulo Madlopha, Snegugu Mabuza and Sjabu Mavimbela were honoured for their outstanding performance and dedication to horticulture production. The awards were based on production volumes, revenue generated and the quality of produce supplied during the assessment period.

The farming input vouchers were presented by NAMBoard Chief Executive Officer Bhekizwe Maziya who commended the farmers for their commitment to horticulture production and encouraged them to continue expanding their farming operations while maintaining high production standards.

The roadshow also provided farmers with an opportunity to engage directly with key players across the agricultural value chain.

Representatives from financial institutions, agrochemical companies, and agricultural input suppliers interacted with farmers, sharing technical information on their products and services and discussing solutions that can support improved productivity and sustainable farm management.

Through the Regional Farmer Roadshows, NAMBoard continues to strengthen collaboration within the horticulture sector, while promoting better alignment between production and market demand, the overall agricultural value chain in Eswatini. Do not miss the next roadshow scheduled for tomorrow at Lubombo RDA, commencing at 8:30am.
