EZULWINI – MTN Group Senior Vice President Ebenezer Asante is in Eswatini to engage with the local operation’s executive leadership team on the telecommunications giant’s strategic ambitions for the country.
Asante’s visit comes as MTN Eswatini continues to position itself as a key player in the country’s digital transformation, with discussions expected to focus on the company’s performance, investment plans and the development of new digital products.
MTN Eswatini Chief Executive Officer Jerry Soko said the engagement would provide an opportunity to review the company’s performance over the past several months and discuss its plans for the next two years.
He said the discussions would also cover MTN Eswatini’s budget for the coming two years, particularly plans to invest in new technology.
Soko said MTN Eswatini would further brief Asante on recently launched digital products and their next phases, as the company seeks to expand its digital offering.
The CEO said MTN Eswatini was also looking at strategically positioning the country as a testbed for digital products and new technologies within the broader MTN Group.
The strategy is intended to allow the company to explore new technology while supporting Eswatini’s digital progress.
Asante currently serves as Senior Vice President of SEAGHAS Markets, overseeing profit and loss responsibilities across MTN’s operating regions.
He has extensive experience in telecommunications and business management across Africa, having previously served as Vice President for the West and Central Africa (WECA) region and later as Vice President for the Southern and East Africa and Ghana (SEAGHA) region between September 2017 and December 2020.
His experience within the MTN Group also includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana and MTN Rwanda, where he was involved in driving financial and operational performance, people development and sustainable business growth.
Before joining MTN, Asante held senior leadership positions in human resources and general management.
He has also served on several boards within the MTN Group.
His visit to Eswatini comes as MTN Eswatini seeks to accelerate investment in technology and strengthen its contribution to the country’s digital development.
The engagement between the Group executive and the local leadership is expected to provide a platform for aligning MTN Eswatini’s investment and digital ambitions with the broader MTN Group strategy.
