Bakkieowners are being called to bring their machines, their skills and their adventurous spirit to the 7th edition of the Mlawula Campfire Festival, which will introduce an exciting new bakkie segment to this year’s event.
Taking place from tomorrow to 27, 2026, the festival is organised by the Mlawula Campfire Festival in collaboration with Bakkie Life, with the new segment set to add an extra dose of action to an already adventure-filled weekend.
Putting bakkies to the test
The bakkie activities have been designed to put both vehicles and drivers to the test, moving beyond simply admiring these popular workhorses and giving owners an opportunity to show what their machines can do.
Among the highlights will be the Sunset 4×4 Trail Drive, giving participants the chance to take their bakkies off the beaten track while enjoying the scenery around Mlawula.
For those looking for a little competition, the Bakkie Tug of War will test strength and traction, while the Bakkie Mud Pit Challenge will provide an opportunity for drivers to put their off-road skills to the ultimate test.
Show off your machine
The programme will also feature a Bakkie Show & Shine, giving owners an opportunity to put their pride and joy on display and show off everything from its exterior appearance to the finer details.
Whether it is a workhorse, an off-road build or a carefully maintained daily driver, the Show & Shine will give bakkie enthusiasts a chance to appreciate the different machines taking part.
More than just mud
It will not all be about horsepower and mud. The festival will also host a Camping Masterclass, aimed at helping outdoor enthusiasts sharpen their camping skills, while the Tyre Change Challenge will test how quickly participants can handle one of the most important roadside situations faced by motorists.
Registration still open
The organisers are calling on bakkie owners to register for the off-road experience, with registration remaining open until tomorrow at midnight.
