NHLANGANO – King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium was buzzing with life as residents gathered for the inaugural Nhlangano Best Braai 2026.
From colourful stalls and exciting activities to families creating unforgettable memories, the event transformed the local hub into a vibrant celebration of community spirit, culture and local economic growth.
The official opening marked an exciting milestone for the region as Mayor Smiling Msibi joined Philani Maswati Charity Organisation Chairman Lutfo Dlamini and event organisers to kick off the day. Taking an active role in the festivities, the leaders stepped up to the braai stands themselves, sharing moments with attendees and highlighting the event’s core mission of bringing people together.
For local business owners, the gathering offered a crucial platform. Local entrepreneurs noted that Nhlangano Best Braai 2026 was more than just a day of fun, describing it as an opportunity to showcase their business, attract new customers and gain essential support to grow their enterprise. As crowds filled the venue, small vendors worked hard to turn foot traffic into lasting trade.
Local businesses turned up in large numbers, boosting regional trade and keeping the town’s economy moving. Children were treated to a magical experience tailored just for them. Larger-than-life mascots brought overwhelming joy to the younger guests. Some children danced like there was no tomorrow, while others made a quick U-turn the moment the mascots came closer. Organisers noted that “Bo Cocomelon had a day to remember!” Adding to the sweetness of the occasion, local bakery Cake Baking Eswatini presented a custom birthday cake to celebrate all visitors born on October 31.

Sports enthusiasts found their own haven at the main stage, where football fans gathered to watch the live broadcast of the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on a giant screen. The screening sparked friendly debates, lively cheers and shared excitement, proving that great sport seamlessly complements great food. With delicious braai smoke in the air, endless entertainment and children making a splash under the warm sun, the festival successfully combined leisure with local commerce, creating a memorable day for Shiselweni.
