India minister meets King on Eswatini official visit

LOZITHA – India Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita is in the Kingdom of Eswatini on an official visit.

The minister arrived in the country yesterday and is expected to be in the kingdom until Sunday.

He began his business with a courtesy call to His Majesty King Mswati III at Lozitha Palace yesterday evening, which was followed by a private dinner.

According to his itinerary, the visiting minister is expected to pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Russell Dlamini today in Cabinet, Mbabane. After that, he will meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu.

The main purpose of this meeting is to discuss matters of mutual interest and review the progress of bilateral relations.

Later today, Minister Margherita will visit the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) in Matsapha and plant a tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ (A tree for every mother) campaign.

Tomorrow, the minister is also expected to participate in the ICCR Scholarship awarding ceremony, which will be held at the United Nations (UN) House in Mbabane. His participation in this event will highlight India’s development partnership with Eswatini. Furthermore, on the same day, the minister will engage with the Indian Diaspora at the UN House, Mbabane.

This visit is expected to further enhance the long-standing and friendly relations between India and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
