MANZINI – Well-known businessman Mxolisi ‘Waxola’ Mabuza has survived a suspected hijacking and attempt to his life after unknown men fired a hail of bullets to his car.

The incident, which left the businessman’s car – a Toyota Hilux LDV, with six bullet holes, happened near his home at Ngculwini, Mafutseni in the Manzini Region.

According to a source privy to information regarding the matter, the businessman was arriving from a business trip in South Africa when he was attacked by the unknown armed criminals.

He said the businessman crossed the border back into the country via Ngwenya Border Gate at around 8:30pm and drove straight home.

He said while the businessman was driving along the gravel road which leads to his home and was a stone throw away from the gate, he heard a loud bank and he thought the bakkie door was open.

“While he was trying to comprehend what might have happened and trying to look back using the rear view mirror, he heard two gunshots and he sped towards his gate,” the source said.
