MBABANE – Capital giants Highlanders AM have confirmed some of their signings for the upcoming season, albeit with surprises.

Reports indicate that Chairman Andile Mpisane, a son to club president, will also play for the side. Mpisane forms part of their quartet of international signings.

Flamboyant South African businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, who is Highlanders AM new President, was quoted on South Africa’s radio station Metro FM in July saying her son is unlikely to play for her new club in Eswatini, as he wants to be in the management.

The latter featured several times for Royal AM before the club fell into South African Revenue Service (SARS) curatorship and was ultimately disbanded due to Mkhize’s issues with SARS.

However, as per latest developments, that has taken a twist.

The possibility of his acquisition as a player was fuelled during the recent 8Bet Trade Fair Cup, where midfielder Siyabonga Mkhonto was seen wearing jersey number six instead of the 10 he was initially given.

This had happened after the departure of his brother in winger Philani Mkhonto to Manzini Sea Birds.

The jersey number 10 was Mpisane’s football jersey at Royal AM, where he was also both a player and a chairman.

Mpisane is joined by his counterparts from ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ in attacking midfielder Simphiwe Cele and Xolani Ngcobo.

The list of imports is completed by Ghanaian goalkeeper Innocent Adja from Ezulwini United.

Meanwhile, former Nsingizini Hotspurs gifted midfielder Ayanda ‘Shoes’ Mabuza headlines the locals. Highlanders have also reportedly bolstered their squad with Green Mamba’s duo of Siboniso Shiba and Linda Nkambule.

They have signed another shot-stopper, Sisekelo Maseko from Royal Leopard. The Ernest Mavuso-led side signed former Madlenya player Bongumusa Fakudze and Ishmael Zwane from Tambankulu Celtics.
