MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers structures are said to have initiated a dialogue in a bid to resolve governance issues.

This situation follows alleged differences within the management structure, which last week saw Director Mlamuli Mabuza reportedly stepping down just three months after taking the helm.

The team’s underperformance in the opening games of the season has been cited as a primary cause of the club’s division. Wanderers currently sit in 14th place after six MTN Premier League fixtures.

Mabuza was said to have decided to step down with dignity after the club recorded its first win of the season last Thursday, beating Ubombo Sugar 1-0. In the previous fixture, they had been crushed 4-0 by city rivals, Manzini Sea Birds. Worth noting is that the Gcina Dlamini’s side are yet to officially confirm the director’s exit.

Reports then emerged linking former Director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini and the club’s legal team to being the next caretakers.

The former Kubuta Member of Parliament (MP) Mabuza, came shortly after a meeting by the National Supporters Committee (NSC), which pronounced its dissatisfaction and withdrew its support for him.

Sources close to the matter have revealed that elders have rushed and decided to step in. They are said to have called a meeting that involved the Management Committee (MC) and the NSC.

The meeting was initially planned for Tuesday, but was postponed to last night.

A source close to the matter said some key members were absent three days ago, leaving the elders with no option but to set a new date.

“Essentially, the idea was to bring the opposing parties together and find a solution for the brand going forward, as the elders believe that unity across all organs of the team is required. Mabuza is still willing to stay, but due to an unworkable environment, he can’t remain on the ship, which is why the elders want to sort out this administration issue urgently,” the source alleged.

Meanwhile, Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mongi Simelane confirmed that a planned meeting was postponed. Simelane added that while he was not aware of the specific agenda, he expects to have full details today regarding the outcome and the exact standing of Director Mabuza following yesterday’s meeting.
