MBABANE – Navigating the complexities of the music industry requires more than just talent; it demands a strategic partner.
Kopton Music has emerged as a powerhouse agency dedicated to safeguarding artists’ rights and streamlining the logistical hurdles that often stifle creativity. The agency specialises in helping musicians with their music licensing and professional consultation, ensuring every note played is a note paid.
Kopton acts as a vigilant protector of intellectual property.
“For artists whose music has been licensed without their knowledge, we get in touch with production companies on your behalf to get your licensing fee and agreement, avoiding legal disputes,” read part of a statement from their website. By facilitating these conversations, the agency ensures artists receive their fair dues without the burnout of legal warfare.
Locally, the agency currently has two artists under its belt, Oriiginelle and Nelly Noll. Originelle was their first artist to be revealed on their social media pages; her music resonates deeply with audiences, combining cultural authenticity with contemporary sounds. Her breakout single, ‘A Thou Nyana,’ garnered critical acclaim, securing a spot on YFM’s charts for four consecutive weeks and earning her a coveted feature in Hype Magazine. This early success set the stage for her debut EP, ‘Metamophofeels,’ which debuted at number one on Eswatini’s Apple Music Hip Hop charts.
Born Nolwethu Mkhatshwa, Nelly Noll is known for her rich vocals and Afro-House sound, having captivated audiences from the beginning of her career. Her passion for storytelling and self-expression led her to music. Her debut in the industry was in 2023; she featured on AyaCity’s single ‘Akekh’omunye’ following her own single ‘Timbali’ in 2024. Her debut extended playlist ‘Mkhatswa’ solidified her sound, exploring themes of love, identity and faith.
