MBABANE – Local artist Young Zesh has crossed 10 000 monthly listener threshold on Spotify, a growth that shows his growing influence beyond local borders.

Young Zesh, born Mzwandile Ginindza, has moved past the promising phase of his career, solidifying his status as a creator of music that is not just consumed but truly cherished.

Following a high-profile exit from his former label, Upscale Live, Zesh chose the path of self-determination by launching his own imprint, Mabonwa Abulawe Records in 2025.

He has already signed two artists under his label, including Lesia Musiq and the latest signed artist, JimiBoi SD. He has also revealed that he is gearing up for a new album this year titled ‘Tsandze’Masiko’ album.

The engine behind this recent Spotify surge has been the dual momentum of his debut independent single, ‘Bustard’ and the viral success of ‘Senibeketele’ .

The song recently cleared 100 000 views mark on YouTube, acting as a powerful funnel that has driven listeners towards his streaming platforms. Sharing his excitement when the song hit 100 000 viewership on YouTube, Young Zesh mentioned that reaching 100 000 views on YouTube with ‘Senibeketele’ is one of the most meaningful moments of his career.

“It is a confirmation that the message, the story and the emotion behind the song truly touched people. When I dropped ‘Senibeketele’, I wanted it to speak for anyone who has ever felt overlooked, underestimated or counted out. Seeing it break 100 000 tells me that people didn’t just hear it they felt it,” he said.

In an interview, Young Zesh mentioned that reaching 10 000 monthly listeners’ means a lot to him and it is not just a number it is proof that his music is travelling beyond his circle and connecting with people.

“For a long time it felt like I was creating in the dark, so seeing that many listeners tells me the grind is working and the message is landing.

“It motivates me to stay consistent, level up the sound and keep being real with my story. This milestone feels like a checkpoint, not the destination and I’m grateful to everyone who pressed play and believed early,” he said.
