MBABANE – Eswatini’s golfing powerhouse Nobuhle Dlamini has once again stamped her authority on the continental stage.
Dlamini has secured a magnificent top-five finish at the Standard Bank Ladies Open hosted by the City of Cape Town between Thursday and Saturday this past week.
In a high-stakes showdown at the challenging Durbanville Golf Club, Dlamini navigated a world-class field of over 120 golfers to finish as the second-highest-ranked African, trailing only the tournament winner, South Africa’s Danielle du Toit.
Eswatini star entered the fray with a’dream start’ during the opening round, carding a clinical one-under-par (71) to sit at number seven on the leaderboard and signal her intentions early. She maintained her surge during the second round, producing a gritty display to move to three-under-par overall, which catapulted her to position three, heading into the final day.
Despite the intense pressure of the closing 18 holes, Dlamini signed for a final score of two-under-par, ensuring she remained in the elite bracket to finish tied fourth. This performance marks a significant turning point in her 2026 campaign.
After shaking off the rust with a respectable showing at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge and a testing 25th-place finish at the NTT DATA Ladies Pro-Am at Fancourt, Nobuhle has clearly found her peak at the right time. The championship, contested over a rigorous 54-hole format, boasted a lucrative E1 million prize purse.
“Grateful for a solid week in Cape Town. After a steady run at Durbanville, lots of positives to take out of this week. It is nearly there, despite just a few errors in the end, but I’m happy with the progress,” shared Dlamini on her official Facebook page.
By securing her spot in the top five, Dlamini is set to pocket approximately E53 000, while the top three finishers—headlined by Du Toit—secured the largest shares of the million-Emalangeni fund. Having consistently outplayed seasoned campaigners from the Ladies European Tour throughout the week, Dlamini’s latest exploit serves as a bold reminder of her standing as one of Africa’s most elite professional golfers.
