As energy costs continue to rise and the global shift towards renewable energy accelerates, homeowners and property developers are increasingly seeking smarter, more sustainable solutions to manage their energy consumption.

ASG Investments stands at the forefront of this transformation with its innovative geyser conversion kits, designed to integrate traditional electrical geysers with solar power systems.

This technology-driven solution allows households and property owners to convert existing electric geysers into hybrid solar units, reducing dependence on the grid and significantly cutting electricity bills. Beyond cost savings, ASG’s geyser conversion kits contribute to a greener, more energy-efficient future, aligning with Eswatini’s and the region’s broader commitment to renewable energy adoption.

Conversion kit integration overview

ASG’s retrofit manifold system is designed to seamlessly convert a standard electric geyser into a hybrid solar-assisted unit, minimising disruption and maximising reuse of existing infrastructure.

REUSED COMPONENTS:

Geyser tank: The existing electric geyser tank remains in place and continues to serve as the primary hot water reservoir.

Thermostat and heating element: These are retained to provide backup heating during low solar gain periods.

Cold water inlet and hot water outlet: Original plumbing connections are preserved to maintain household water flow.

NEW COMPONENTS ADDED:

Retrofit manifold: This is the core of the conversion kit, integrating solar-heated water into the geyser system via a thermosiphon or pumped loop.

Solar collector panels: Typically, flat plate or evacuated tube collectors mounted on the roof to capture solar energy.

Circulation loop (if pumped): Includes a small DC pump, temperature sensors and a controller to manage water flow between the collector and geyser.

Non-return valves and mixing valves: To prevent backflow and regulate temperature.

Insulated piping: UV-resistant, thermally insulated pipes connect the solar collector to the geyser.

Expansion vessel and pressure relief valve: To accommodate thermal expansion and ensure safety.

PERFORMANCE, SAVINGS AND PAYBACK

Homeowners can typically expect a 30–70 per cent reduction in electricity used for water heating after installing a solar geyser conversion kit, depending on system size, usage habits and solar exposure.

Estimated electricity savings: Water heating accounts for 30–50 per cent of a typical household’s electricity bill. Solar geyser conversion kits can reduce this portion by up to 70 per cent, especially in homes with good solar exposure and adequate insulation.

Beyond cost saving, ASGu2019s geyser conversion kits contribute to a greener, more energy-efficient future.
