In the wake of loss, many, much like our feature this week, seek a divine presence that offers unshakeable peace, transforming deep grief into a journey of healing and spiritual discovery.
Simphiwe Simelane is a woman of deep faith who loves the Lord wholeheartedly. She shares that she was first introduced to God during her secondary school years through a group of friends who attended Scripture Union (SU). “Through their influence, I began to learn more about God and slowly developed a desire to know Him for myself,” she says.
“However, I truly encountered God during one of the most painful seasons of my life, when I lost my father. In that time of grief and deep sorrow, I learnt how to speak to God sincerely and openly. I learnt to depend on Him completely because I realised I could not carry the pain on my own. In the midst of that storm, I experienced His presence and a peace that did not make sense. Even though my world felt shaken, God became my comfort, my strength and my Father in a very personal way,” Simelane shares.
Over the years, Simelane has grown closer to God, knowing that He is her source of trust, her Provider, and her everything. She further states that she has learnt to fully surrender and depend on Him in every area of her life.
“My journey has not been without challenges, but each season has taught me that God is faithful and constant,” she testifies. To those who are seeking God, Simelane encourages: “Fully trust and depend on Him. The Word of God in Proverbs 3:5 says: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.’
This reminds us that we are not meant to figure out life on our own. Know that you do not carry your life by yourself; there is a God in Heaven who guides and directs your steps. When you choose to trust Him, even when things do not make sense, He leads you on the right path. I encourage you to live a life of full dependence on Him and complete surrender. Above all else, seek Him first and trust Him always. He is faithful, and He will never fail you.”
