MANZINI-Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane has suffered a major setback in his legal battle with Motsepe Foundation Championship side The Bees.
The case stems from Mlwane’s dismissal in November 2025, just 12 games into the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season. The club fired the former lanky midfielder, who guided them to promotion from the Southern Africa Football Association (SAFA) ABC Motsepe League and replaced him with Joel Masutha.
However, Mlwane later took the club to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), which ruled in his favour. The club was subsequently ordered to compensate Mlwane for the remainder of his contract. But the club appealed the decision and took the matter to the SAFA arbitration.
In a statement issued on Monday, the club has confirmed that the arbitrator has set aside the PSL DRC ruling.
“The Bees Football Club is pleased to confirm that the case brought by our former coach, Mr Humphrey Mlwane, regarding alleged unfair dismissal has been dismissed in favour of the club by the Arbitrator Today, 17 August 2026. The outcome vindicates our position that the coach was not unfairly dismissed. The Bees FC has been cleared of any wrongdoing,” reads the statement.
After his departure from the Bees, Mlwane went on to coach Eswatini side Tabankulu Celtics, guiding the side to a ninth place finish with 41 points in their debut elite league season. Regardless, details of whether he was still contracted to Batoze Bavume remained scanty at the time of compiling this report. As per impeccable sources, Mlwane is currently not in Eswatini. He had signed a four-month contract that expired in May this year.
Meanwhile, The Bees have since moved on and appointed Duncan Lechesa as their new Head Coach. He is assisted by Sundra Govinder, whom he also worked with at relegated side Black Leopards.
The Bees are set to host Highbury FC in their first league match of the new 2026/27 season on Saturday, August 22.
