MBABANE – Letticia Viana will be part of the VAR team when Italy face Spain in tomorrow’s FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup semi-final.
The Eswatini match official has been appointed as the Support Video Assistant Referee (SVAR) for Match 49 at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź, with kick-off at 3pm.
The appointment marks Viana’s eighth assignment at the tournament, which started on September 5 and concludes on September 27 in Poland.
Viana’s World Cup campaign began as Assistant VAR during Poland’s 1-0 victory over Argentina on September 5 before she served as VAR for Costa Rica’s clash with Colombia two days later.
She was then AVAR for Japan versus the United States on September 9 and VAR for Colombia against Portugal on September 10.
Her fifth group-stage appointment came on September 12 when she served as AVAR during Korea Republic’s match against Ecuador.
Viana’s workload continued into the knockout stages, where she was VAR for Poland versus Colombia in the Round of 16 on September 17.
She then served as SVAR when Korea Republic faced Italy in the quarter-finals on September 19, with Italy winning 3-1 to reach the last four.
Now, Viana returns to the VAR team for another high-profile assignment as Italy take on Spain in the first semi-final tomorrow.
The second semi-final will see defending champions Korea DPR face Colombia at the same venue at 6:30pm.
The bronze-medal match will be played on September 26, before the final on September 27, both in Łódź.
