MBABANE – South African Jazz musician Dr Xolisa has asked Velemseni to perform with her during her upcoming show in the kingdom.
According to Velemseni, Dr Xolisa asked her during her recent performance in South Africa at this year’s Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, which took place last month at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
“I got to catch a glimpse of Dr Xolisa performing at the Joy of Jazz and I was blown away. I greeted her as a fan, literally; it was lovely to meet her. She is very gracious and passionate. I was very surprised and honoured to have her ask me to join her. On my side, it is really exciting for my performance at home to be with such a renowned Jazz musician. It just goes to show how much Joy of Jazz cultivates those relationships between artists and other stakeholders on the field, so I am truly excited to share a moment with Dr Xolisa,” she said.
The upcoming performance will be on October 10 at the revamped Eswatini Theatre Club and the show is part of the recently announced ‘The Foyer Series’. This programme is supported by the German Embassy in Pretoria. The former counsellor of cultural affairs from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pretoria, Jesko von Samson, revealed that they see this project as a suitable measure to continue the ongoing exchange between the German Embassy and civil society in Eswatini.
