MBABANE – A car delayed is not a car denied!

It never rains but pours for Miss Eswatini, as the previous licence holders yesterday promised that everything would have been finalised by February 16, 2026 pertaining to the delivery of the Miss Eswatini sponsorship car. Oukitel Eswatini Managing Director Mduduzi Shongwe, who is represented by Martin ‘Internash’ Dlamini, explained the delay in delivering the vehicle. Judge Ticheme Dlamini had enquired if the car had been delivered.

“What’s the position? Has the car been delivered?” Temvelo Mtsetfwa’s attorney, Sihlesenkhosi Jele of H.M. Mdladla Attorneys, said the car had not been delivered and stated that the respondents could explain. Dlamini, on behalf of Shongwe, told the court that certain technical legal procedures were delaying the delivery of the vehicle.

He said Shongwe would travel to the Republic of South Africa, where the car currently is, and the process of releasing it ‘ends today’. According to the attorney, the car is supposed to be delivered in Eswatini, to Mtsetfwa, fully-registered. He said it will be delivered in Eswatini by the company that obtained the sponsorship in South Africa. “The company will then seek clearance in South Africa,” said Dlamini.

He applied to the court that the matter be postponed to February 16, next year and the operation of the interim order extended to that day. Dlamini informed the court that by February 16, all processes would have been finalised. The court granted the application, to which both parties had consented.

Mtsetfwa, was crowned Miss Eswatini on November 30, 2024 at a glamorous event held at the Happy Valley Hotel. As one of her prizes for winning the pageant, she was promised a vehicle. During the prize-giving, she was shown the car but did not drive away with it.

This matter has become a topic of conversation among followers of the pageant.

The pageant aims to empower young women passionate about public service and charity work, offering opportunities for personal and professional growth. Since its revival in 2017 after a three-year hiatus, Miss Eswatini has been dedicated to fostering the development of diverse women.

Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, received a brand new car, a Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé, which is at least E1.36 million.

Miss SA 2024, Le Roux also received a number of prizes as part of winning the title, which she will make use of during her reign. Her prizes include a E1 million cash sum, a fully-furnished apartment developed by the Tricolt Group, and of course her new car. The Mercedes CLE is a newly-released two-door model that went on sale in South Africa in March 2024. Priced between E1.36 million and E1.44 million; it serves as a replacement for both the C Class and E Class Coupe models.
