MBABANE – In an era often overshadowed by systemic challenges and social confusion, a ray of creative hope has emerged from the heart of South Africa.

Ikhaya Losonkondlo, a collective of visionary young orators, continues to redefine the role of the arts in community building.

Their most recent showcase, held on December 13, 2025, did more than just fill a room with rhythm, it served as a powerful declaration of solidarity and a transformative experience for all in attendance.

The event took on a profound meaning as it was staged within the framework of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The focus of the evening was the formal introduction of the organisation’s newest signing, Charmz Da Poet. Charmz’s journey to this stage is testament to the power of grassroots support. His participation was made possible through the patronage of Sabelo Majeneza Maseko, who provided the necessary funding for transportation and attire. This gesture points out to a recurring theme within the Ikhaya Losonkondlo narrative- the belief that when a community invests in its artists, the entire society reaps the rewards.

When Charmz finally moved from his role as host to performer, the atmosphere shifted. He delivered a hauntingly beautiful rendition of his signature piece, ‘Emaphupho’. The performance was a visceral exploration of aspiration and struggle that moved many in the audience to tears. It was not merely the technical precision of his delivery that resonated, but the raw energy and palpable dedication he brought to every stanza.

Ikhaya Losonkondlo, founded by the duo Spha Da Poet and Magcangu Imbongi, refuses to be confined to the stage. The organisation operates on the principle that words must be backed by action. In a moving response to the needs of local women and girls, the group utilised the session to donate sanitary towels to community members. This practical intervention addressed a critical need and reinforced their mission to provide comfort and restoration in tangible ways.

Reflecting on the rapid growth and the spiritual weight of their mission, Charmz Da Poet remained focused on the broader vision for the collective. He noted the rising influence of the group and their commitment to emotional healing.

“Ikhaya Losonkondlo is on the map and we are on a road to bringing peace to the hearts of others.” These words serve as the organisation’s unofficial manifesto. It is a promise to continue the demanding work of mending a fractured society through the dual lenses of art and activism.
