MBABANE – Eswatini’s export-focused businesses have been handed a fresh opportunity to access the Asian market.

This follows the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority’s (EIPA) call for local manufacturers to exhibit at the Designed Giftionery Expo 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan.

EIPA yesterday officially opened applications for export-ready Eswatini businesses producing locally manufactured goods to participate in the international trade fair, scheduled to take place from April 16 to 19, 2026.

The deadline for applications is February 12, 2026, marking a narrow but strategic window for businesses seeking to expand beyond traditional regional markets.

The Taiwan exhibition is regarded as one of Asia’s leading platforms for gifting, stationery, lifestyle products, handicrafts, beauty and wellness items, and creative goods, attracting buyers, distributors and retailers from across the continent and beyond. The invitation follows what EIPA described as a year of deliberate export development initiatives rolled out in 2025 to better position Eswatini businesses for international trade.  These initiatives included the launch of a national Export Guide, the introduction of a structured 2026 Trade Show Calendar, export readiness and market intelligence training, as well as the use of storytelling to profile local exporters.

According to EIPA, these programmes were designed to ensure that participating businesses are not only visible on global platforms, but are also competitive, compliant and commercially prepared.

Sibusiso Mnisi, Executive Head Trade Promotion at EIPA said the Taiwan exhibition aligns closely with the type of creative and value-added products being produced by Eswatini traders.

“Following a series of deliberate training interventions in export readiness and market intelligence, EIPA is pleased to invite export-ready Eswatini businesses to apply to exhibit at Designed Giftionery 2026 in Taipei,” Mnisi said.

“This platform offers direct access to the Asian market and allows local businesses to interact first-hand with buyers from a new market, while promoting their products to prospective customers on the ground.”

Designed Giftionery has grown into a major sourcing hub for Asian retailers and distributors seeking unique, design-driven products.
