MBABANE – One of South Africa’s pioneering voices and co-founder of the iconic group TKZee, Kabelo Mabalane, is officially set to bring his musical legacy to the MTN Bushfire 2026 stage.

Known affectionately to fans as “Bouga Luv”, Mabalane remains the foundation of the Kwaito genre and his upcoming performance promises a nostalgic journey through a discography that defined an era.

With a career spanning over two decades, Kabelo has transitioned from a chart-topping star to a respected figure of purpose and transformation. His set list is expected to feature timeless anthems such as “For as Long Ngisaphefumula” and “Love Me or Leave Me Alone”, songs that continue to resonate across generations.

The organisers of MTN Bushfire shared their excitement on their social media pages about securing such an influential artist for the festival’s twentieth anniversary. The event, held annually in the Malkerns Valley, has long been a platform for celebrating African excellence and Kabelo’s inclusion aligns perfectly with the festival’s “Bring Your Fire” call to action.

Beyond the music, Kabelo’s personal journey of overcoming addiction and becoming a marathon runner and pastor has made him a symbol of hope. His ability to blend infectious rhythms with a message of resilience ensures that his performance will be more than just a concert, it will be a celebration of African culture and the human spirit.

Kwaito, a genre that emerged in Johannesburg during the 1990s, acted as the soundtrack to South Africa’s transition into democracy. As a member of TKZee, Kabelo was at the forefront of this movement, blending township slang with house beats and Hip Hop influences. His solo career further solidified his status as a hitmaker who could capture the pulse of the nation.

Fans from across the continent are expected to flock to Eswatini to witness this rare performance. The 2026 line-up is shaping up to be one of the most diverse in the festival’s history, bridging the gap between old-school legends and contemporary stars.
