What motivates people to work out is different: Maybe it’s a health problem, an issue with sleep, a special event you want to look great for, having more energy to play with your children or grandchildren, or simply wanting to feel better and healthier in your own skin.
Today’s fitness motivation comes from Nsizwa Thwala, who has been in the game for a while now. He shares his journey and secrets.
“I believe I have been exercising all my adult life, I started the fitness and health journey about 25 years ago at the then Tiger City Gym, which used to be located at the now Inyatsi House.
“Initially, when I started, I wanted to enter the new millennium with a renewed mindset and healthy body; it was around November 1999 when the exercising bug bit me, I decided then to lead a healthy lifestyle and I have never looked back since. Another reason for taking up this lifestyle was because I fat as a teenager and I did not want to live that life in adulthood.”
Thwala mentioned that when he started he did body building exercises, but ask he saw the transformation; he then fell in love with road running. “I believe in holistic training, this does justice to my overall body; the combination of exercises and road running, gives me all my fitness needs,” he said.
“I do not have a specific diet, but I avoid sabotaging food; food that is not good for my body. And once after 10 weeks, I go on a 7-day fruits and vegetables detox diet. This diet is very important and it works wonders on my body and overall well-being. At age 45 and a fitness coach, my passion is to promote health and fitness, the clean way,” Thwala added.
“I am part of the Zithande Athletics Club and our slogan says: ‘Your body your business: Ingawe lento’. The secret is in the discipline. I define discipline as doing something that you have to do, even if you do not want to do it.
