As the world becomes increasingly digital, having a reliable internet connection is essential. Whether you are a student, professional or just someone who enjoys streaming movies and TV shows in their leisure time, your internet service provider (ISP) can make or break your online experience.

Mkhululi Maziya from Jenny Internet Eswatini shares factors to consider when choosing your internet provider.

“With so many options available, choosing the right ISP can be overwhelming. We want WiFi for different reasons, the need is the most important aspect to consider among many others,” he said.

Maziya also highlighted some of the key factors:

Availability and coverage

The first factor to consider when choosing an ISP is availability and coverage. Not all ISPs provide services in all areas, so it is important to first check if the ISP you are considering offers services in your area. It is also important to check the coverage area, especially if you live in a remote area. Some providers offer services in only certain parts of a city or State, so it is important to make sure that you are covered.

Type of connection

The next factor to consider is the type of connection offered by the ISP. There are several types of internet connections, including wireless, optic fibre and satelite amongst others.  Each type of connection has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Speed and data cap

An important factor to consider when choosing an ISP is speed and bandwidth. The speed of your internet connection determines how fast you can browse the internet, download files and stream videos.

The bandwidth determines how much data you can use in a month. When looking for an ISP, make sure to get informed about the actual speed.

Customer support and service

An important factor to consider when choosing an ISP is speed and if they are offering you a capped or uncapped internet link.

The speed of your internet connection determines how fast you can browse the internet, download files and stream videos.

The data cap determines how much data you can use in a month. When looking for an ISP, make sure to get informed about the actual speed and if the line is capped or uncapped.
