The Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA) 2026 marked a defining evolution of the platform, with the introduction of the Basadi Vanguard Awards, expanding the celebration to honour legacy, impact and excellence beyond the main categories.
The landmark edition brought together powerful voices across the industry, highlighting both rising talent and established leaders shaping the future of music.
Eswatini Gospel powerhouse Nothando Hlophe has been crowned the 2026 Song of the Year winner at the prestigious Basadi In Music Awards, marking another major milestone in her growing musical journey.
The award is a celebration of Nothando Hlophe’s artistry, consistency and ability to connect with audiences through music that carries a message of faith, hope and inspiration.
Her recognition at one of South Africa’s prominent music award platforms further demonstrates the growing impact of Eswatini’s music on the regional stage.
“This award means so much to me. It is not only a celebration of a song, but of the journey, the people who have believed in me and everyone who continues to support the music. I am deeply grateful to God and to everyone who has played a part in this journey,” said Nothando Hlophe.
Zamo Dlamini won the prestigious Make-up Artist of the Year at the BIMAs reflecting her growth and diversity into the industry. The musician took to her social media pages to show her gratitude for the award.
“Thank you so much Basadi Awards, team Spotless by Zamo, this one for you,” she wrote.
Her social media comment session was filled with congratulatory texts from her fans and some faces in the industry.
Amapiano sensation, Zee Nxumalo won artist of the year at the BIMAs for two consecutive years. The musician who is away on tour made a video thanking her fans for the tremendous support again.
“Hello everyone, I want to send my sincere gratitude to the award organisers and everyone who voted for recognising my achievements,” she said.
Despite the countless nominations, Local Amapiano sensation, Uncle Waffles came back trophyless from the BIMA awards succumbing to Kamo Mphela for Dance artists and DBN Gogo for best Amapiano DJ, among others.
The achievements reflect the strength and hard work the women put into their craft. These latest recognitions add to an already remarkable period for local music as Swati music continues to reach audiences beyond Eswatini. The awards serve as a reminder that local talent, when nurtured with purpose, consistency and the right partnerships, can compete and make an impact on major regional platforms.
