EZULWINI-The Kingdom of Eswatini has joined the global community in commemorating World Post Day 2026 under the theme ‘One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities’.
The celebration was hosted by the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) at the Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini.
Speaking at the event, EPTC Managing Director (MD), Thulani Fakudze said the day highlights the evolving role of postal services in driving digital transformation, economic inclusion and sustainable national development.
Dlamini said the postal network was increasingly becoming a critical enabler of financial inclusion, economic growth and national development.
Fakudze, who joined EPTC three months ago after serving at the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), highlighted the partnership with the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) as one of the organisation’s significant developments.
Through the partnership, emaSwati can pay for Government services at 34 post offices across the country. He said the initiative had helped respond to declining traditional mail volumes, revitalise post office branches and bring government services closer to communities.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology (ICT), Prince Mshishimba Dlamini delivered a keynote address at the event and reflected on “The Future of the Post Office in a Digital Economy,” emphasizing the need for postal operators to embrace innovation and adapt to changing consumer needs.
“The question before us is no longer whether postal services will survive the digital age. Rather, it is how postal operators can leverage their unique assets to become indispensable players within an increasingly digital economy,” he stated.
The PS underscored the strategic value of EswatiniPost’s extensive nationwide network, highlighting its potential to connect communities, expand access to digital financial services, support e-commerce and bring government services closer to emaSwati.
He emphasized that the future of postal services lies in innovation, connectivity and inclusion, noting that a modern postal network can play a significant role in promoting entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities and supporting the country’s digital transformation agenda.
“The future of the Post Office is defined by its ability to reinvent itself as a platform for innovation, connectivity, inclusion, and economic opportunity,” the PS emphasised.
