MBABANE – South Africa’s creative talent is set to take centre stage in Eswatini once again at the 8th edition of the Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival.

The Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival is a lavish two-day feast of culinary exploits, high-end fashion, Afrocentric music and wholesome family-friendly entertainment. The event celebrates the sophistication and elegance of African style, cultures, creative design and delicacies through a tastefully curated programme of culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs, connoisseur-led premium wine and whiskey showcases and a world-class regional fashion show.

Presented by the producers of the internationally renowned festival of music and the arts, MTN Bushfire, the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival today officially launched its 2026 festival in South Africa at a dedicated stakeholder and media event. Hosted at Artistry in Sandown, Sandton, the launch marks another milestone in Luju’s growing commitment to strengthening the creative, cultural and economic relationship between South Africa and Eswatini.

As one of Southern Africa’s leading food, fashion and lifestyle events, Luju unveiled its expanding collaboration with South Africa’s arts and culture sector, reflected in the attendance of and support from  Standard Bank South Africa, creative development partners, tourism stakeholders, artists, entrepreneurs and the private sector.

South Africa will be strongly represented across Luju Festival’s music, food and fashion programmes again. Grammy Award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini joins the Luju Festival stage alongside South African Kwaito legend Zola 7, who brings his unmistakable catalogue of township anthems, while celebrated trumpeter, composer and vocalist Mandisi Dyantyis returns with his acclaimed body of work, ‘Intlambululo: Ukuhlambulula’. Maskandi legend Shwi Mantombazane will honour generations of Zulu musical storytelling through a performance steeped in tradition, and award-winning duo Liquideep will transport audiences with the soulful, emotive sound that has made them one of Southern Africa’s most enduring musical acts. South African Hip Hop heavyweight Nasty C joins the line-up, bringing his globally recognised sound and generation-defining artistry to the Luju stage. Amapiano hitmaker TMan Xpress adds to the South African contingent, bringing his signature dancefloor energy to the Luju stage.

Festivalgoers will also experience the heartfelt folk-country storytelling of Wandile Mbambeni, the genre-blurring artistry of Johannesburg-based flautist, composer and vocalist Vuyo Viwe, alongside the soulful blend of African Soul, Jazz and contemporary R&B from Thando Zide.

Carrying Hugh Masekela’s fire forward, the Masekela Band, the touring ensemble drawn from the final 15 years of Hugh Masekela’s career, will bring a breathing celebration of one of Africa’s most enduring musical legacies. WONDERboom, marking three decades of distortion, energy and genre-defying grit this year, will bring their infectious, loud and unique energy to the Luju stage. The Kyle Shepherd trio will come together to deliver a heartwarming tribute to celebrated South African composer and pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. Johannesburg DJ duo Circles & Squares will weave together Bossa Nova, House, Disco and Broken Beat into a highly eclectic set.

South Africa’s striking fashion and distinct gastronomy will take their rightful place on Luju Festival’s food and fashion programmes.  Mzukisi Mbane of Imprint South Africa is the headlining designer leading the regional fashion showcase on the Luju Fashion Runway, as well as Coco & J and Chef Mmabatho Molefe, who will join this year’s regional culinary demonstrations.

In addition to the line-up reveals, the event also reinforced Luju’s commitment to building meaningful partnerships with South Africa’s creative ecosystem, strengthening regional collaboration as well as expanding market access and mobility opportunities for South African creatives.

This year’s festival marks several exciting milestones. For the first time in the event’s history, Luju expands into a full two-day experience under its founding philosophy, ‘A Return to the African Future’. The festival will celebrate African cuisine, fashion, music, design and entrepreneurship through immersive programming rooted in indigenous knowledge and contemporary African excellence. More than 10 000 festivalgoers from over 26 countries are expected to attend.

For more than a decade, House On Fire has cultivated strong creative connections between Eswatini and South Africa through its flagship festivals, with the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival playing an increasingly important role in bringing together musicians, chefs, fashion designers, artisans, entrepreneurs and tourism stakeholders from across the region.

The South African launch represents an exciting new chapter in this journey. Working alongside Standard Bank Mozambique and other strategic partners, Luju aims to deepen engagement with South Africa’s vibrant creative industries while creating new opportunities for collaboration between artists, designers, chefs, entrepreneurs and cultural institutions in both countries.

The launch further aligns with Standard Bank’s longstanding commitment to arts and culture development across Africa, including its support of platforms such as the Standard Bank Young Artist Awards, which recognise and nurture exceptional emerging talent and provide pathways for artistic growth, visibility and career advancement. Through this engagement, Standard Bank South Africa further champions creativity, entrepreneurship and cultural exchange while strengthening connections between South African and regional creative ecosystems.

South Africa continues to play an integral role in the Luju story, with its musicians, chefs, fashion designers, artisans and creative entrepreneurs consistently represented throughout the festival programme. This year, South Africa will once again feature prominently across the music, culinary and fashion line-ups.

The festival’s culinary programme this year is inspired by Nguni Foodways, celebrating the indigenous food traditions, knowledge systems and cultural connections that unite communities across Southern Africa. Through world-class culinary demonstrations, conversations and immersive dining experiences, Luju explores how African food continues to shape identity, innovation and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, the fashion programme embraces the theme ‘Kwasukasukela’ (Once Upon a Time), inviting designers to celebrate African storytelling through contemporary design.
