MBABANE – Princess Lindiwe, the late Minister for Home Affairs, will be accorded a State funeral in honour of her service to the nation.
Government has announced that a State Memorial Service for the late princess will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Jesus Calls Worship Centre in Matsapha, starting at 10am.
The State funeral will take place the following day, Saturday, September 26, 2026, at her home in Sidvokodvo, Kasaro family, starting at 6am.
According to government, the funeral will follow a vigil service.
The announcement was made through a press statement issued by government yesterday, which also invited members of the public to participate in mourning the late minister.
A Condolence Book has been opened at the Ministry of Home Affairs, where members of the public have been invited to sign in support of the Kasaro family during the period of mourning.
Government extended its condolences to Their Majesties, the Royal Family, the Kasaro family, Jesus Calls Worship Centre and all those who knew and loved Princess Lindiwe.
Princess Lindiwe died on September 16, 2026, while receiving medical treatment following a short illness. Her death came at a time when the country was also mourning the passing of Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, who died earlier while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.
The princess had served as minister for Home Affairs since 2018, retaining the portfolio after the 2023 general elections. Before entering Cabinet, she had been appointed by His Majesty King Mswati III to Liqoqo in 2008, before later entering Parliament.
Her death has been felt across government, the royal family, the church and among people who worked with her during her years in public service.
Prime Minister Russell Dlamini, when announcing her death, described Princess Lindiwe as having served the Crown and the kingdom with dignity, devotion and a strong sense of duty.
He said she had discharged the responsibilities of her office with distinction, integrity and compassion and remained committed to the welfare of the people of Eswatini.
Princess Lindiwe was also known as umkhokheli and was a woman of deep Christian faith. She was involved in the leadership of Jesus Calls Worship Centre together with her husband, Apostle Robert Kasaro. Government records also identified her as a pastor and leader of the church’s Ladies Ministry.
Her role in the church also intersected with her responsibilities as Home Affairs minister because the ministry is responsible for religious affairs.
