Dreams took centre stage at New Dawn Preschool last Thursday as the school transformed into a vibrant hub of ambition, creativity and inspiration during its Career Day celebration.
From little doctors ready to save lives and teachers eager to shape young minds to police officers committed to protecting communities and pilots dreaming of conquering the skies, the young learners brought their future ambitions to life through colourful and imaginative outfits.
Beyond the adorable costumes, the event carried a powerful message: Greatness can begin at an early age, and every big achievement starts with a dream.
The day began with a special visit from police officers and Fire and Rescue Emergency personnel, who interacted with the children and offered words of encouragement. Their presence gave the young learners an opportunity to learn about different professions directly from people working in those fields, while inspiring them to pursue their aspirations with confidence and determination.
Speaking after the event, New Dawn Preschool teacher Portia Mavundla described the occasion as an important learning experience that introduced the children to the world of work.
“We are celebrating Career Day, and this is a very special day for the young ones as they get to learn about the different kinds of jobs they want to do after school. They are getting a small taste of what these professions look and feel like,” Mavundla said.
She added that interacting with professionals helped the children gain a better understanding of the careers they aspire to pursue. “On this day, they were able to hear from the real people who are out there doing the kinds of jobs they are aspiring to become,” she said.
Mavundla further highlighted that the children learnt the importance of taking care of their bodies and treating others with kindness, values that contribute to their personal growth and future choices.
As the little professionals proudly displayed their ambitions, one message stood out: today’s preschoolers could become tomorrow’s leaders, innovators and changemakers. Through activities such as Career Day, New Dawn Preschool is helping young learners understand that no dream is too big when nurtured with encouragement, education and self-belief.
