MBABANE – The issue surrounding the Miss Eswatini vehicle has now taken the legal route as the current Miss Eswatini remains without her promised car.
Temvelo Mtsetfwa, who was crowned Miss Eswatini on November 30, 2024 at a glamorous event held at the Happy Valley Hotel, was promised a vehicle as part of her grand prize. During the prize-giving, she was shown the car but did not drive away with it. This matter has become a topic of conversation among followers of the pageant.
Eswatini Pageants Chairman Tony Dlamini, confirmed that lawyers have been engaged and a letter of demand has been issued. “We took the issue to lawyers as guided by the Miss Eswatini contract. We have asked that she be given the car. Last week, the lawyers told me they released a letter of demand and now, the next step is to take the matter to the High Court,” Dlamini said.
Contract
He added that their actions are consistent with the terms of the pageant contract. “We still have not seen the car and what is confusing is that we were all present when the vehicle was presented during the prize-giving. The minister was also there. We are handling the matter in accordance with the contract signed for the pageant. We do not know what they are now doing with the car, but yes we have taken the legal route,” he said. The pageant aims to empower young women passionate about public service and charity work, offering opportunities for personal and professional growth. Since its revival in 2017, after a three-year hiatus, Miss Eswatini has been dedicated to fostering the development of diverse women.
When approached this past Saturday, Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, indicated that he had not received any reports regarding the car and that Mtsetfwa had not approached him or his office with any complaint.
Meanwhile, Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, recently received her brand new car, a Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé, which is valued at approximately E1.36 million.
