MALKERNS – This year’s MoMo Xperience show returned bigger and better, with a massive turnout.

Brought to life by MTN and Melting C, the event attracted thousands of patrons who packed the venue to capacity. Some attendees travelled from Pigg’s Peak, Hhelehhele, Mbabane, Siphofaneni and Mankayane to enjoy the festivities. Many patrons praised the line-up, saying it encouraged them to purchase tickets and that the artists performed as expected.

One of the attendees, Kwanele Myeni, shared that he enjoyed the experience and is already looking forward to next year’s edition. “The experience was one of a kind; I enjoyed every performance. The planning around the line-up was excellent, and I will definitely come back next year,” he said.

Ayanda Ncongwane, another attendee who was seen vibing heavily to Mthunzi’s performance, expressed his happiness at being part of this year’s event. “It is the perfect show for me; I wish it was a festival so we could just vibe for the whole weekend. Big ups to MTN and Melting C for such an interesting show,” he said.

It is worth mentioning that the cashless event also showcased local talent. Artists such as Velemseni, Young Zesh, Tru-Classic, AyaCity, Trend Twins, Rekorder, !Sooks and Obsession took to the stage with great energy. From vibrant dance routines by Trend Twins and Young Zesh to song selections by AyaCity and Obsession, patrons enjoyed a lively and colourful experience.

MoMo Xperience Checklist:

  • Top-up stations were sometimes crowded, and some patrons experienced delays due to queues.
  • There were no fights and security was well organised.
  • The sound system was excellent, with no glitches reported.
  • Ample parking was available for attendees.
  • Entry into the venue was smooth, with no queues at the gate, especially when purchasing tickets.

Some standout performances rated:

Trend Twins – 9/10
Trend Twins understood the assignment and delivered as expected. They brought talented dancers, and the choreography was on point.

!Sooks – 9/10
He showed up and delivered a powerful set that kept patrons on their feet for almost an hour. Although he performed before 8pm, he ensured the dance floor was busy.

Rekorder – 9.5/10
He understood the nature of the show and delivered as expected. His song selection skills are exceptional.

Obsession – 9/10
He made sure Afro-house was represented and gave his all to provide patrons with the best experience. He also knew how to create the right vibes.

AyaCity – 10/10
Following a big artist or DJ is no easy feat, and it often comes with pressure. AyaCity took to the decks after DJ Kent and kept the energy alive throughout his set.

True-Classic – 8/10
Their energy was vibrant; they blended their performance with local culture, bringing on two traditional dancers who opened the stage for M Nation.

Young Zesh – 10/10
Young Zesh brought the heat, and nothing is more captivating than solid energy on stage. He ensured patrons were engaged throughout his performance, sometimes pausing to sing an a cappella with the crowd.

Mthunzi – 8/10
There was nothing particularly new about his performance. He did try to engage patrons with dance moves, which is recommended to help foster crowd interaction. However, part of the crowd was disengaged during his set. New songs might have elicited the reactions he was seeking.
